Bring flexibility and power to your next build with the Prime B450M-A II AM4 Micro-ATX Motherboard from ASUS. Supporting AMD CPUs using the AM4 socket, this micro-ATX board features the B450 chipset. Install up to 128GB of dual-channel DDR4 RAM across four slots, with speeds up to 4400 MHz supported when overclocking. Install drives using one M.2 or six SATA III interfaces; connect a graphics card and other adapters using the PCIe 3.0 x16 and 2.0 x1 slots.
A rear I/O panel sports two USB 3.2 Gen 2 and four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports. Connect a legacy mouse or keyboard using the PS/2 combo port; connect displays via the HDMI, DVI-D, or VGA ports. In addition to a Gigabit Ethernet port and three 3.5mm audio jacks, the rear panel also sports a BIOS flashback button. Internal headers support two USB 3.2 Gen 1 and four USB 2.0 ports on the front panel. Connectors for RGB, a TPM chip, two system fans, S/PDIF output, speakers, and a Clear CMOS are also present. Audio is handled by a Realtek audio codec that supports both 7.1 Surround Sound and 24-bit audio. The ASUS Prime B450M-A II AM4 Micro-ATX Motherboard is compatible with Windows 10 64-bit operating systems, as well as Windows 7 64-bit when using an AMD Ryzen 1st or 2nd Generation processor.
This motherboard uses the AMD B450 chipset, and is compatible with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen and Athlon CPUs featuring the AM4 socket.
With the Energy Processing Unit, or EPU, you can take advantage of system-wide power savings. The EPU automatically optimizes power consumption and maximizes savings with Away Mode.
Fan Xpert 2+ software provides comprehensive control over system fans. Auto-Tuning Mode intelligently configures all parameters with a single click. There's also an Extreme Quiet Mode that reduces chassis fan speeds to below the default minimum to keep your system quiet when performing light tasks. Fans can also be controlled via the UEFI BIOS.
The Digi+ voltage-regulation module or VRM delivers real-time control over voltage droop, automatically switching frequency and power-efficiency settings. It also allows you to fine-tune your CPU for ultimate stability and performance.
The Prime B450M II motherboard is engineered with multiple onboard heatsinks and an array of hybrid fan headers to ensure your rig stays cool and stable under intense workloads.
A VRM heatsink with a thermal pad underneath it improves heat transfer from the MOSFETs for better cooling performance.
Prime B450M-A II is engineered with an array of hybrid fan headers and features comprehensive cooling controls that are configurable via Fan Xpert 2+ software or via the UEFI BIOS, ensuring your rig stays cool and stable under intense workloads. Each header can monitor and react to dedicated thermal sensors, while a dedicated integrated circuit provides the fan headers with short circuit and over-temperature protections. Furthermore, each onboard CHA FAN header supports PWM and DC mode.
Install M.2 drives up to 22110 and get data transfer speeds up to 32 Gb/s via the x4 PCI Express 3.0 interface.
Doubling the speed of its predecessor, USB 3.2 Gen 2 features a maximum throughput of 10 Gb/s when used with compatible devices and is synonymous with USB 3.1 Gen 2.
Separates analog and digital signal domains, significantly reducing multi-lateral interference.
Ensures minimal crosstalk between audio paths.
ASUS Aura offers full RGB lighting control with a variety of functional presets for RGB LED strips connected to the onboard RGB headers. And it can all be synced with an ever-growing portfolio of Aura-capable hardware.
Armoury Crate is a software utility designed to give you centralized control of supported products. From a single intuitive interface, Armoury Crate allows you to easily customize RGB lighting and effects for every compatible device in your setup. The software also provides control of settings for ASUS products, including keyboard and mouse preferences.
BIOS FlashBack is the simplest and safest (UEFI) BIOS update method. Simply drop the (UEFI) BIOS file onto a FAT32 formatted USB stick, plug it into the USB BIOS FlashBack port, and press the button. Updates can even be performed without having memory or a CPU installed.
Featuring a fortified design that's anchored to the motherboard by a special hook, SafeSlot Core provides improved retention and shearing resistance over standard expansion slots.
Built-in voltage regulators protect your motherboard from damage caused by unexpected high-level voltages from unstable or inferior power supplies.
Onboard resettable fuses prevent overcurrent and short-circuit damage. This extends beyond I/O ports to DRAM to safeguard the lifespan of your system and connected devices.
Corrosion-resistant stainless-steel back I/O panels bonded with chromium oxide have a lifespan that's three times longer than ordinary panels.
ASUS LANGuard is a hardware-level network protection feature that integrates advanced signal-coupling technology and premium anti-EMI surface-mounted capacitors to improve throughput and ensure a more reliable connection.

Whether you build a new PC or upgrade the existing one, the motherboard is the most vital component to choose when you have already picked the processor of your choice.
It is important to keep a few things in mind while purchasing the mainboard:
Pick up the Right Socket: You can single out a great CPU from either Intel or AMD, but whatever CPU you choose, make sure your mainboard has the right socket for the selected CPU. The latest mainstream AMD chips use AM4 sockets while current Intel 9th Gen Core CPUs require LGA 1151v2 sockets.
Motherboard Sizes: Motherboards typically come in three sizes from largest to smallest: ATX, Micro-ATX, and Mini-ATX motherboards. ATX motherboards offer the highest number of RAM and expansion slots. If you are looking for a budget build, you can use a smaller chassis with the micro or mini boards, but you'll have to settle for fewer PCIe slots, RAM banks, and other connectors.
Number of RAM Slots: Most mainstream boards these days have four RAM slots, although Mini-ITX models often have just two, and high-end boards frequently offer eight. The amount of slots, of course, limits the amount of RAM you can install.
Motherboard ports: It’s essential to check the I/O area on a motherboard to make sure it has the external connection options you need. You may need more USB 3 ports while others may want more audio ports. Among the most common ports, there are USB 3, USB 2, audio, USB type C, USB 3.1 Gen1 and Gen2, HDMI, Display port, PS/2 and Thunderbolt 3 ports. Ports one probably want the most are USB 2 and USB 3 Gen1 ports, as the first one is perfect for keyboard, mouse, and many other devices and the later one work with most peripherals. USB 3.1 Gen2 and USB Type-C ports will come handy in the near future, although most peripherals do not support this standard yet.
