End of a three decades long partnership between EA Sports and FIFA POSTED ON May 21, 2022 by Arup Ratan Paul

End of a three decades long partnership between EA Sports and FIFA

Every year since 1993, EA Sports and football governing body FIFA have released a new version of the football video game called FIFA. But this is not happening from next year.

EA has earned more than 20 billion from this game alone. In 2013, the two companies signed a new agreement to release the video game by 2022. However, in recent times, the relationship began to deteriorate. According to the New York Times, FIFA has asked EA to pay more than double the current price to extend the contract. As well as various things outside the game such as highlights, tournaments are also behind this separation.

However, with the remaining 300 EA partners still under contract, the major share of players, teams and stadiums will all be in their next game. So the experience of gamers may not change much. In this case, the pressure is more on FIFA. This time they have to find a new partner for their game. However, there is no one in the market right now who can compete with EA. The market for Pro Evolution Soccer (Pace), EA's biggest rival, has also plummeted. So after the release of FIFA 2022, now the big challenge for FIFA is to release their next video games.
