Antivirus

What is Antivirus?

Antivirus software is a program that helps protect computer systems from malware, viruses, and other malicious software that can harm a computer or network.

Antivirus software works by scanning files and programs on a computer and comparing them against a database of known malware signatures. If a match is found, the antivirus software can either quarantine or delete the infected files. In addition to scanning for malware, many antivirus programs also include features such as: Firewall protection: A firewall can block unauthorized access to a computer or network. Email protection: Antivirus software can scan email attachments for viruses and other malware. Web browsing protection: Some antivirus programs can block access to malicious websites or warn users before they visit a potentially dangerous site. Automatic updates: Antivirus software can automatically update itself with the latest malware signatures and other security updates. It's important to note that while antivirus software is an important tool for protecting computer systems, it is not foolproof. Some malware can evade detection by antivirus software or exploit vulnerabilities in outdated software or hardware. Therefore, it's important to practice good internet security habits, such as avoiding suspicious websites and email attachments, keeping software and hardware up-to-date, and backing up important data regularly.
