What is Aperture?

Aperture refers to the opening through which light enters a camera lens, and it controls the amount of light that reaches the camera's image sensor or film.

The size of the aperture is represented by an f-number or f-stop, which is a ratio of the focal length of the lens to the diameter of the aperture. A smaller f-number represents a larger aperture, allowing more light to enter the camera and creating a shallower depth of field. Conversely, a larger f-number represents a smaller aperture, allowing less light to enter the camera and creating a deeper depth of field.
