CIS

What is CIS?

CIS (Contact Image Sensor) is a technology used in some scanners to capture images of documents or photos.

Unlike traditional scanners that use a CCD (Charge-Coupled Device) sensor, CIS scanners use a linear array of sensors that are in direct contact with the document being scanned. CIS scanners are generally more compact, energy-efficient, and cost-effective than CCD scanners. They also tend to produce sharper images, particularly for documents with a lot of fine detail. However, CIS scanners are not always suitable for scanning thick or textured materials, as they require direct contact with the document being scanned. Additionally, they may be more prone to distortion and other image quality issues when scanning larger documents or images.
