Manual Focus

What is Manual Focus?

Manual focus is a photography technique that allows the photographer to manually adjust the focus of the camera lens, as opposed to using the camera's autofocus system.

This technique can be useful in situations where the camera's autofocus system may struggle, such as in low light or when photographing subjects that are not in the center of the frame. To use manual focus, the photographer must turn the focus ring on the lens to adjust the focus until the subject appears sharp in the viewfinder or on the camera's screen. Some cameras also have a focus assist feature that can help the photographer determine when the subject is in focus by highlighting areas of high contrast or using a digital zoom to magnify the image. Manual focus can be challenging to master, as it requires the photographer to have a good understanding of depth of field and to be able to judge distances accurately. However, with practice, it can be a powerful tool for creating unique and compelling images.
