Ni-MH Battery

What is Ni-MH Battery?

A Ni-MH battery, or nickel-metal hydride battery, is a type of rechargeable battery that is commonly used in portable electronic devices such as cordless phones, digital cameras, and handheld gaming devices.

Ni-MH batteries are made up of a positive electrode that is typically made of nickel oxyhydroxide, a negative electrode that is made of a hydrogen-absorbing alloy, and an alkaline electrolyte solution. They are known for their high energy density and long cycle life, meaning they can be recharged and used repeatedly over a long period of time. Compared to older types of rechargeable batteries, such as Ni-Cd (nickel-cadmium) batteries, Ni-MH batteries have a higher capacity and are considered to be more environmentally friendly. They are also less prone to "memory effect," a phenomenon in which the battery's capacity decreases over time due to repeated partial discharge and recharge cycles. Ni-MH batteries can be charged using a Ni-MH battery charger and should be stored in a cool, dry place when not in use to extend their lifespan. However, they may self-discharge over time, which can cause them to lose their charge even when not in use.
