Operating Humidity

What is Operating Humidity?

Operating humidity is the range of humidity levels in which a power supply can function correctly and reliably without damage to its components.

Power supplies are designed to operate within a specific range of humidity, which is usually specified in the manufacturer's datasheet. Most power supplies have an operating humidity range of 5% to 95% relative humidity (RH) without condensation. When the humidity level is outside this range, it can cause corrosion or moisture damage to the components inside the power supply, resulting in malfunction or failure. High humidity levels can also cause electrical shorts and arcing, which can damage the power supply and other connected devices. On the other hand, low humidity levels can cause static electricity build-up, which can also damage the power supply and other electronics. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the power supply is installed in an environment with appropriate humidity levels to ensure reliable operation and prevent damage
