PoE+

What is PoE+?

PoE+ (Power over Ethernet Plus) is a technology that provides more power over Ethernet cabling than standard PoE (Power over Ethernet).

The IEEE 802.3at standard defines PoE+ and it is also known as 802.3at. PoE+ can deliver up to 30 watts of power per port, which is double the amount provided by standard PoE. This increased power capability enables the powering of high-power devices such as pan-tilt-zoom cameras, access points with multiple radios, and even thin client computers. Like standard PoE, PoE+ can deliver power over Ethernet cables while also transmitting data, providing a single-cable solution for network devices. PoE+ also allows for more efficient power management, which reduces energy consumption and lowers costs. Overall, PoE+ is a powerful and efficient technology that simplifies network deployment, reduces costs, and provides flexibility in powering high-power network devices.
