Red-Eye Reduction

What is Red-Eye Reduction?

Red-eye reduction is a feature in digital cameras and flash photography that helps to reduce the appearance of red eyes in portraits.

It works by emitting a series of pre-flashes before the main flash, which causes the subject's pupils to constrict and reduces the amount of light that enters the eye. This helps to minimize the reflection of light from the retina, which is what causes the red-eye effect in photographs. Some cameras may also offer a post-processing feature that can remove red-eye from images that have already been taken. Red-eye reduction is particularly useful in low-light or indoor situations where the flash is needed to provide sufficient illumination.
