What is Video Speed Class?

Video Speed Class (VSC) is a speed class designed specifically for SD cards used in video applications.

The VSC rating indicates the minimum sustained write speed required for recording video with a specific resolution and encoding. There are currently five VSC ratings: V6, V10, V30, V60, and V90. The V6 rating indicates a minimum sustained write speed of 6 MB/s, while the V90 rating indicates a minimum sustained write speed of 90 MB/s. The higher the VSC rating, the more demanding the video application and the higher the required write speed. It's important to note that VSC ratings are only applicable to SD cards that support the UHS bus interface, so not all SD cards will have a VSC rating. Additionally, using an SD card with a VSC rating higher than what's required for your video application won't necessarily result in better video quality, but it can ensure that your SD card is capable of handling the demands of your video recording needs.
