Bus Type

What is Bus Type?

The bus type of an SD (Secure Digital) card refers to the interface used to transfer data between the card and the device it is connected to.

There are several types of bus interfaces used for SD cards, including the original SD bus, the High-Speed bus, the UHS-I bus, the UHS-II bus, and the UHS-III bus. The original SD bus is the slowest, with a maximum transfer speed of 25 MB/s. The High-Speed bus has a maximum transfer speed of 50 MB/s, while the UHS-I bus has a maximum transfer speed of 104 MB/s. The UHS-II bus can transfer data at up to 312 MB/s, and the UHS-III bus can transfer data at up to 624 MB/s. The bus type of an SD card is important when considering its compatibility with different devices. Older devices may only support the original SD bus, while newer devices may support UHS-I or UHS-II. Using a faster SD card in a device that only supports a slower bus may result in slower transfer speeds, while using a slower SD card in a device that supports a faster bus may limit its performance.
