WAN Port

What is WAN Port?

A WAN port, short for Wide Area Network port, is a networking port on a device, such as a router, that is designed to connect to a wide area network (WAN).

The WAN port is typically used to connect the device to the internet or to a larger network, such as a corporate network. The WAN port is usually labeled and can be distinguished from other ports by its location, often located separately from other LAN ports. WAN ports typically use different connectors than LAN ports, such as an RJ-45 connector for Ethernet-based WAN connections or a coaxial connector for cable-based WAN connections. To use a WAN port, you typically need to configure your device with the correct settings provided by your internet service provider or network administrator.
