CRT Monitors

What is CRT Monitors?

CRT monitors, or cathode ray tube monitors, were the primary type of computer monitor used before the widespread adoption of LCD and LED displays.

They work by using an electron gun to project a beam of electrons onto a phosphor-coated screen, creating the images that the user sees. The phosphor coating on the screen is made up of tiny dots or pixels, which can be lit up by the electron beam to create different colors and shades. The beam scans across the screen rapidly, creating a visual image that is refreshed multiple times per second to create the illusion of motion. CRT monitors have some advantages over other types of displays, such as high contrast ratios and fast response times, which make them well-suited for certain applications such as gaming or graphic design. However, they are also relatively bulky and heavy, and they consume more power than other types of displays. As technology has advanced, CRT monitors have become less common, replaced by LCD and LED displays which offer improved performance and lower power consumption in a smaller and more lightweight form factor.
