Rated Current

What is Rated Current?

Rated current is the maximum current that an electrical device can handle or the current that it is designed to operate at continuously without overheating or damaging the device.

It is a specification provided by the manufacturer and is typically measured in amperes (A). For example, if a power supply unit (PSU) has a rated current of 10A, it means that it can supply up to 10A of current to the connected device without any problems. Going above this rated current can cause the device to overheat or malfunction, which is why it's important to ensure that the connected devices do not draw more current than the rated value of the PSU or any other electrical device.
